Aas (2006: 143) says of biometrics: ‘Biometric identification does not represent the familiar theme of post-modern, free-floating conciousness and the disappearance of embodiment in cyberspace (…) Quite the opposite: biometrics gives the body unprecedented relevance over the mind’. Similarly, the material body, rather than being erased, has reinforced its presence on the Internet: the body manifesting itself through site and sound is once again acutely relevant.
